Welcome all to Freewheelin'

Seth's ma name, and I am a recent college graduate going on an adventure of a lifetime. I have saved my pennies, acquired my gear, and muscled my legs and now I am off to ride the country.

I am cycling through the USA working on farms and seeing the country. My route is ever changing and my time line is extremely flexible.

I will be working through the World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) program. Its general idea is that a WWOOFer will work on the farm, and in return the farm owners will pay them not in money, but with a safe place to sleep and healthy organic food to eat. This agreement benefits both parties by giving the owners extra help to keep their farm running smoothly and also providing the WWOOFer with priceless hands-on experience and farming techniques from the farm owners.

From orchards in western Virginia to herb farms in Missouri to timber framing schools in North Carolina, there are so many farms to learn from and dozens of beautiful states to see.

Traveling at an average of 15 mph, I will get to see the country like no other car passenger has before. If you are interested in seeing any of my travels, check out the picture
gallery. You can also read about my trip through my blog. I will update the site as often as possible, but it is at the mercy of generous strangers and local libraries.

So whether you're here to see
who I am, want to offer a comfy patch of grass for me to pitch my tent, wish to contribute to the trip, or even just to gain a little bit of help and inspiration to go on your own tour, take a look around Freewheelin'!

"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."  -Ralph Waldo Emerson
